Return of the Lazy-Eyed Psycho

Get ready for more Swedish-made penis enlargers (if that's your bag) to come to a theater near you. Nikki Finke's Deadline Hollywood reported today that Mike Myers is currently in the middle of writing Austin Powers 4. With The Love Guru having tanked at the box office, Myers looks to be getting back into his most successful franchise, and is teaming up with old collaborator Mike McCullers, who worked with him on Austin Powers 2: The Spy Who Shagged Me and Austin Powers 3: Goldmember. It's rumored that the film will revolve around Dr. Evil and his son, Seth Green's Scott Evil, in an homage to Myers' own father.

In her report, Finke also reports on some bullshit diva shenanigans that Myers pulled when he appeared on Late Night with Conan O'Brien last month wherein he demanded Twizzlers and raspberry seltzer and sharks with frickin' laser beams attached to their heads. Okay, maybe not that last one. I'd also heard rumored reports around town of Myers behavior--and also that he laughed at the thought of Steve Carell making more money than he at the box office when The Love Guru was set to open against Get Smart. Which for me made his film's disastrous opening weekend schadenfreude that much sweeter.

Hopefully all of that taught the man a lesson in humility and he'll put in a little extra work on making another Powers installment actually funny. Picturing Austin Powers as a touching father-son set piece doesn't exactly raise my expectations, but if he can tap into what made the first couple films so great, he's likely to make at least one million dollars at the box office. Maybe more.
