In an age when almost no one else can guarantee box office success, it's a comfort to know we can still count on Will Smith. Unlike other celebrities, no amount of Scientology rumors or other gossip seems to affect his draw at the box office. That's a good thing for the movies, and a good thing for moviegoers. He's a reliable commodity in a tenuous industry.

With no other movies in wide release, last week's top two movies followed Hancock in box office sales, but they were a distant second and third: WALL-E took in $33.4 million during the three-day weekend for $128.1 million after its second weekend, and Wanted was third with a $20.6 million weekend and is at $90.8 million overall.
