Advice To and From The Stars

Some people look to movie stars for tips about the latest starvation diet secrets or how to properly maintain one's hair extensions. Some may look to directors for insight about how to handle long work hours, or how to manage the egos of our bosses and coworkers. But they have other advice to offer, advice we can put to use in our own lives in very practical ways. Or at least we can mock it a little. First up is advice from writer/director/"actor" M. Night Shyamalan. According to MTV, the worst advice actor Mark Wahlberg ever got was from Shyamalan. Are you shocked? Neither am I.

Walhberg tells MTV that Shyamalan told him that after The Happening, Walhberg would never be able to hold a gun again. Is it because no one would trust his judgment anymore? Either because they thought he might be infected with suicide pollen, or because he thought signing up for that movie was a good idea? Either way, Marky Mark didn't take his director's advice, and signed up to star in the upcoming, gun-slinging Max Payne. Oh, and The Happening barely broke even. [On a related note, all guns should probably be kept away from M. Night Shyamalan. - Zach]

Also via MTV comes kissing advice from actor Jason Butler Harner. This isn't the kind of thing you'd see in one of those Cosmo "How to Drive Your Man Wild Using Just Your Lips And a Wedge of Fine Vermont Cheddar!" articles, either. Harner has a scene in the upcoming Changeling in which he gets to smooch Angelina Jolie. The problem was, the smacker wasn't in the script. He ad-lipped it all, after consulting director Clint Eastwood about it. The only person he didn't consult was Jolie, who slapped and hit him. All while in character, too, because she's a pro. So I guess his advice boils down to something like... Kiss people unexpectedly, but brace yourself for physical harm. [It's the story of my life! - Zach]
