Fake Trailer Round-Up

The Internet has brought us many, many things, including unlimited second-hand information, free pornography and numerous forums in which to express our socially unacceptable opinions without fear of reprisal. But one of the greatest things it's given us is the fake movie trailer. Sometimes used for harm (like the ones that claim to be legitimate trailers for in-production films), they can also be used for good, such as showing the world (and Hollywood producers) what your favorite cartoon or comic book might look like as a movie. Well, here are three of the coolest recent fake trailers I've found, and I wanted to share them with you.

1. Pac-Man
There have been a lot of fake Pac-Man movie trailers, but this one actually uses some cinematic elements in its unique approach. (It's more of a mini-movie, really.) While other Pac-Man trailers have depicted Pac-Man as a hero (albeit a goofily-dressed one), this version tells the story from the point of view of the ghosts, who are only threatening until Pac-Man eats some fruit, and then are totally at home as victims in the horror-movie genre. Trapped in a labyrinth with a carnivorous beast? I'd be pissing myself whether I was a ghost or not. It's particularly cool how the creators handle the color-change.

2. Super Friends
Yes, they're supposedly still working on a Justice League movie, but I'm much more interested in seeing this animated feature. If the overly dramatic portrayal of Superman, Aquaman and the Wonder Twins seems familiar, that's because it's entirely modeled after the Watchmen trailer. In fact, the creator has made another video where you can watch the two trailers side-by-side. (Apparently, when the city cries out for help, Robin will say, "No.")

3. Dance of the Dead
Screw Dawn, Day and Diary of the Dead -- the dead want to dance, man! In this parody trailer, members of the high-school sci-fi club must save the day when zombies rise up and converge on the -- what? This movie is real? That's awesome. You know, I thought it looked pretty professional despite the digital video, and the fact that they had quotes from real horror sites should have tipped me off. It apparently comes out on video on October 14, and I'm totally renting it. Then I'm gonna make a fake trailer for the college-based sequel, Dorm of the Dead.
