Mother****ing ACTION!

Far be it from me to say that George Lucas used up all his good ideas back in the '70s and '80s, but... George Lucas used up all his good ideas back in the '70s and '80s. Exhibit A: ...Well, pretty much anything he's done since the late '80s. But what I want to focus on here is Exhibit B: He recently suggested to Samuel L. Jackson, the most notorious part whore in all of Hollywood that perhaps he should start thinking about directing. Not to suggest that Jackson might not be a talented director -- we'll never know until he actually does it -- but why do I think this might be something Lucas suggests to every actor out there, ever? I mean, not everyone is cut out to direct, George. (See also: Wars, Star - Episodes I, II, III).

The project he suggested to his erstwhile Mace Windu is that of Red Tails, the World War II project that chronicles the exploits of the Tuskegee Airmen. Lucas himself is producing. When asked if it was something Jackson would consider doing, he responded, "I don't know. I don't have a year and a half of my life where I wanna stop acting." Which, when you think about it, could actually go a long way in explaining why the man will take any part that comes his way. He just doesn't wanna stop acting. [Couldn't he have stopped before he made The Spirit? - Zach]

Lucas, for his part, would do well to just keep his yap-trap shut and go out and spend his money or something. (Provided he doesn't spend it on another Star Wars project that further ruins the franchise for those of us long time fans.) So help me, if I have to write a Moviefile reporting that Shia LaBeouf is taking the directing reigns on his next project, I'm going to hitch up to Skywalker Ranch and George and I are going to have a conversation.
