The two stars were at the festival to promote their new film, Burn After Reading, the Coen brothers' comedy follow-up to their Oscar-winning No Country For Old Men. But with the way the media has covered the festival, it's as if the festival itself is a by-product of the story that Clooney and Pitt are in attendance. It's probably the same way at the festival, too. While no story has broken of it yet, I wouldn't be surprised to learn that poor Ksenia Rappoport was knocked over and trampled by photogs trying to get a good shot of the tuxedoed Clooney and Pitt as they sashayed down the red carpet. I'd personally rather look at those two than the subtitles in some Fellini film too, but I'm barely part of the media -- I'm mostly just some girl who snarks on it. Fox News even reported on an Spanish journalist dressed in red exercise trunks who asked Pitt, who plays a fitness center trainer in the film, the all-important question of if he would help her work out. (Pitt responded with a flat "It's a movie.") So either the media needs to get its priorities straight, or they're handing out press credentials to every Tom, Dick and Maria who asks for one. Speaking of which...
