And that's not all the oldster had to say about the film. In his interview with the LA Times, he goes on to talk about how well the movie did, and that it therefore makes sense to dig up another one. By "well," again, he is most likely referring to box office and little else. Except maybe in the fun those three codgers had in making it, and thereby reliving their youths.

Ford even gets all existential -- or is he just avoiding an actual answer -- when asked whose idea a fifth film actually was, saying "Really, it comes from the ethos, from the ether. It's natural. It's a way of nature, of course, success breed opportunities." Um, okay then. He is opposed to the idea of an animated Indy, which -- animation fans, cover your ears or prepare to scream -- he says would be reducing the franchise.

I am theoretically not opposed to the idea of a fifth film. Since Indy is definitely the type of guy who gets himself in over his head, it does make sense he'd continue to do this into old age, but please make the movie a little better next time, is all I ask. My advice to Ford if they make yet another movie about aging Indy: Try not to kill yourself. You are nearing 70, after all. (As an aside, if Indy had really continued to live this type of wild life for all those years, I don't even think he would have survived to 66. But that's splitting hairs.)
