Scott's been saying he'll do another sci-fi film for a while now, and apparently The Forever War was supposed to be the movie Scott made right after his two classic sci-fi films, Blade Runner and Alien, but it got delayed 25 years or so. Scott told Variety not to worry, though: The book's only gotten more timely in those 25 years. You might wonder if Scott still has it in him as he nears 71 to make the kind of cutting-edge sci-fi that Blade Runner and Alien were back in their day. And that's actually a good question. But he still seems to be able to make things that are timely, political, and a little bit revolutionary (see Crowe vs. Crowe in Nottingham), so he should be able to handle it.

That leaves only one big question, then, about The Forever War: Will Russell Crowe star? Because a Ridley Scott movie without Russell Crowe is like... well, something that used to exist but doesn't anymore. Like the 8-track tape. Or dinosaurs.
