The awful, unforgiving summer of death we just got out of seems to have extended to fall, with the untimely passing of Patrick Swayze yesterday. I don't really know what to say about it other than it's terrible and sad, and shocking because he seemed to be doing slightly better recently. Throughout his career he always seemed like a decent, genuinely nice guy who just made fun movies everybody loved with really, not too many demons, considering his crazy success there for a while (he had trouble with alcohol, but it's not like he was constant DUI guy, or ever went all Mel Gibson on somebody). The entertainment world has lost a great talent, and I suggest we put all our lovable celebrities somewhere safe, on 24 hour surveillance until further notice.
I hunted around on Hulu for great clips of him for this post, hoping to find a touching To Wong Foo scene (my favorite Swayze performance/movie ever), the epic final Dirty Dancing scene, some kickass Point Break action, or maybe the part where he annoyed Whoopi Goldberg with "Henry ViII" in an adorable British accent from Ghost, or the infamous Chippendales audition SNL sketch with Chris Farley, or even a Donnie Darko scene, but for the first time in a while, Hulu has failed me. [Not even a Road House brawl? -- Zach] All I could find was this Hans and Franz sketch, which, while not really the ideal way to memorialize Patrick Swayze's beloved career, is better than nothing.
Goodbye, Swayz. May you teach all the angels how to cha cha and stand up to their dads in the heaven Catskills forever and ever.

He was a beutiful person, both inside and out. He was deeply loved and he will be greatly missed.
Oh God, I just remembered about To Wong Foo, I didn't even think about him being in that movie.
I LOVE that movie. So much. I'm going to go home, curl up on the bed with a box of tissues, and my best drag outfit and watch Vida be forever fierce. *tear*
