Loved the tribute to John Hughes. He was my childhood.
They should award an honorary Oscar to whomever designed Penelope Cruz' gown.
What is up with all the gum chewers in the audience? I mean, I know it's a long night but there was nothing less attractive than the shot of Sarah Jessica Parker chewing her gum with her mouth open like it was cud
You're missing Documentary Short, MUSIC BY PRUDENCE.
That gum chewing was making me CRAZY all night! If they're doing it to freshen their breath, somebody should introduce them to Altoids. Morgan Freeman was the first gum smacker I noticed on the red carpet, but he was by far not the only one. Get a little class, Hollywood!
I counted SIX gum-chewers, some of them still chomping just now during the post-awards interviews. Tim McGraw was the most recent one. You're right -- not very classy.
I totally missed the gum chewing!!! What I didn't miss was them playing "I Am Woman" by Helen Reddy after KB won for best director - WTF?!? That was so incredibly patronizing!
Aren't you missing Best Picture in this list?
Well, can't say I focused on gum chewing, but I also really enjoyed the John Hughes tribute. So much of my childhood, right there...
Was Hurt Locker really that good?
No, no it really wasn't. It was long, and boring, and there was really no story, they just keep going out and diffusing bombs. Thrilling!
how much you want to bet the gum chewing was nicorette-related? no time for smoke breaks when you're A list and on camera all the time.
All the love for Precious and Hurt Locker is not really a surprise. Everyone wants to feel noble while they vote. How deep that feeling is, is not so clear. There were unhappy murmurs at a joke from Martin about Toyota, but not a bit of appreciation given to a documentary about plant closings in Michigan.
SJP was chomping gum in the audience.
Yes, it really was.
I also noticed all the gum chewing and commented on how extremely tacky it was. Can anyone tell me what the hell Sean Penn was talking about before he presented the Best Actress Oscar...something about the academy ignoring the same actress for 2 years blah blah blah I really couldn't tell what me was mumbling.
What a big fuss about nothing! Surely it makes sense what the poster above me has said and that should be the end of it!
