Hey, remember the Titans? Somebody did, and they must have given them bad word-of-mouth, because Clash of the Titans has dropped off 56% in its second weekend, making only $26.7 million and almost allowing the Tina Fey-Steve Carell comedy Date Night to squeak into first place with $25.2 million. Granted, Titans has made a total of $230 million worldwide so far, and we doubt Date Night will ever make that much money, but it's hardly an even fight. While Titans has the Kraken, all Date Night could unleash was Mark Wahlberg's pecs. Magnificent, to be sure, but not really worth riding a pegasus around.
With no new kid's movie to compete with, How to Train Your Dragon hung in there for a third week, coming in third for the second time in a row with another $25 million. That makes it the number-one earning dragon movie of all time, beating Eragon, Dragonheart and Reign of Fire, as sad as that last defeat may be. Last week's Why Did I Get Married, Too? and Last Song each dropped a notch or two, but still managed to bring in another $10 mill per. And Alice in Wonderland is still inspiring wonderment after six weeks, both here and overseas, bringing its worldwide total to nearly $800 million. Good for you, Tim Burton. We may not like all of your movies, but we wish you well overall.
The Top Ten:
1. Clash of the Titans (2010) $26.7 million ($110.5 million in 2 weeks)
2. Date Night $25.2 million
3. How to Train Your Dragon $25.4 million ($133.9 million in 3 weeks)
4. Tyler Perry's Why Did I Get Married Too? $11 million ($48.5 million in 2 weeks)
5. The Last Song $10 million ($42.4 million in 2 weeks)
6. Alice in Wonderland (2010) $5.6 million ($319.3 million in 6 weeks)
7. Hot Tub Time Machine $5.4 million ($37 million in 3 weeks)
8. The Bounty Hunter $4.3 million ($56 million in 4 weeks)
9. Diary of a Wimpy Kid $4.1 million ($53.8 million in 4 weeks)
10. Letters to God $1.3 million

I'm not sure what criteria identify a "dragon movie", but if Hobbit counts I suspect it'll beat them all.
And I disagree - Mark Wahlberg's pecs are SO worth riding a pegasus around.
110.5 Million in 2 weeks wow that insane
