The Return of the Jedi Deleted Scenes We'd Rather See

The Return of the Jedi Deleted Scenes We'd Rather See

At this past weekend's Star Wars Celebration V convention, George Lucas unveiled a deleted scene that will only be available on the Return of the Jedi Blu-Ray collection, and it's... not very exciting. Darth Vader says Luke's name a bunch of times, and Luke builds a lightsaber in a cave. While, admittedly, that would have been pretty bad-ass at the beginning of the movie had it been included originally, now its just sort of "meh." Tell us something we don't know, George! Specifically, these are some examples of revelatory scenes that might have added something to our enjoyment of the film and made us pony up for yet another version of the sextology

- Lando Calrissian filling out a job application to be a guard at Jabba's palace.

- The Battle of the Bands that Sy Snootles and the Rebo Band win to become Jabba's house band. The losing acts get dumped into the Rancor pit.

- Luke explaining the plan to rescue Han to R2 and C-3PO. Unfortunately, it is so complex, involving multiple disguises and failed rescues and everyone being taken prisoner, that neither R2 nor 3PO is able to understand its intricacies.

- Bib Fortuna trying to find a steel bikini that will fit Princess Leia. While Jabba keeps a variety of sizes in stock to fit most of his concubines, Leia is a tiny thing, so Bib ultimately needs to bring in a blacksmith to smelt a new one.

- Boba Fett crawling out of the Sarlacc pit and taking off his helmet to reveal Temuera Morrison, who then says, "I'm getting too old for this shit."

- Luke demonstrating the different settings on his lightsaber. He can set it to either "slice" or "bludgeon," depending on whether he wants to kill his opponent immediately, or simply beat him into submission.

- The carnivorous Ewoks tossing stormtroopers into a giant pot of boiling water, then pulling them out and cracking open their armor like a lobster to get at the delicious meat inside.

- A speeder bike with a sidecar, which only pursues Luke and Leia for a short while before the sidecar gets ripped off by a tree trunk.

- Innocent construction workers on the Death Star, stopping their welding to watch fighter ships whiz by. One of them wants to go home to his wife and kids, but he needs the overtime.

- Rebel pilot Wedge Antilles suggesting that everyone turn their targeting computers off, since that's what worked the last time they had to blow up a Death Star.
