Doesn't Jon Hamm Already Play Superman on Mad Men?

When we heard that Jon Hamm was being seriously considered to play the role of Superman in a new movie, we got a bit confused: doesn't he already play Superman? Seriously, the steely-eyed Don Draper on Mad Men is the spitting image of the Man of Steel, and the two characters have a lot in common. So while the role is fraught with peril (where are Dean Cain and Brandon Routh now?), it seems like Hamm would be the perfect fit for an older, more established Superman. And, as the following examples prove, he's already got plenty of experience.

1. They Both Have a Secret Identity
Nobody knows that mild-mannered reporter Clark Kent is really Superman, but it seems more and more people know that stern ad man Don Draper is really Dick Whitman, the bumbling country bumpkin with the shortest Korean War service time on record.

2. They Both Lost Their Parents at a Young Age
Clark's parents died when he was a baby, when his home planet of Krypton exploded. Similarly, Don's prostitute mother died in childbirth, and his father was kicked in the head by a horse when he was ten. Also, Don wishes his hometown had exploded, so he would never have to see it again.

3. They Were Both Raised on a Farm
That's where their upbringing similarities end, however, because while Clark's adoptive parents were loving and generous, and he still visits them today, Don's father was abusive and his stepmother liked to call him "whore-child," and he left the first chance he got. So it's like apple farms and orange farms.

4. They Both Work in an Office
True, ad agency Sterling Cooper Draper Pryce is no Daily Planet, but both deal with the media, and both are run by curmudgeonly veterans of their respective industries. Plus, both Don and Clark have resident sidekicks named "Olsen" -- Clark has photographer Jimmy, and Don has his secretary-tuned-protegé Peggy Olson. Maybe they should consider changing Jimmy's gender...

5. They Both Have a Lot of Lady Friends
Don Draper is clearly a ladies' man, and women throw themselves at him constantly, but Superman is also a bit of a player... as long as your initials are "L.L." Lois Lane, Lana Lang and mermaid Lori Lemaris have all dated the Man of Steel, and he's even had a few dalliances with Wonder Woman. Most of them were in alternate realities, but still -- Don would be impressed.

6. They Each Have Their Own Kryptonite
Superman's Kryptonite is actually Kryptonite -- fragments of the planet Krypton that drain his power and affect his judgment. Don has something similar, but it's called bourbon, and it drains his powers of creativity while causing him to hook up with random women. Also, he pukes in the toilet.
