You may not know this, but the main character in Machete first appeared in the Spy Kids movies. It's true! Okay, so technically, it wasn't exactly the same character, but Danny Trejo played another guy named "Machete" who was the uncle to the titular child agents, and also a spy and inventor himself. He wasn't a bloodthirsty killer, but Trejo certainly made the franchise more awesome simply by being in it -- just as he did in the From Dusk Till Dawn movies, as well as the last two Mariachi flicks. Now he's got his own franchise, with two more Machete movies supposedly on the way, but why is Robert Rodriguez the only one taking advantage of his awesomeness? The man would make a valuable addition to any existing franchise -- here are seven we think should grab him while he's hot.
Pirates of the Caribbean
In the next installment, Captain Jack Sparrow is going after the Fountain of Youth, and, to be honest, Danny Trejo looks like he could use it. Cast him as a rival Spanish pirate who fears his seafaring days are coming to an end, and let the swashbuckling commence.
Iron Man
If Mickey Rourke can pose a threat to the armored Avenger as a Russian scientist with a couple of electrified whips, then Trejo would scare the crap out of him as a Mexican inventor with a pair of electrified machetes. Iron Man might need to call in the rest of the Avengers to help take him out.
Harry Potter
It's not too late to do some reshoots on the last two films in the HP franchise and get Professor Trejo in there! Since the Death Eaters have taken over Hogwarts, we'd love to see Trejo play a werewolf schoolteacher, teaching his own unique spin on history in between snacking on first-years.
Step Up
After the relative success of Step Up 3-D, another dance-happy sequel is a sure bet, and who better than Trejo to play the ex-con dance instructor who teaches a bunch of juvenile delinquents about the street cred earned by being able to bust a move? We already have a title: Step Up 4 Life.
The Hangover
After they get back from Thailand, the gang needs to plan their next trip -- to Tijuana! But when they wake up to find Danny Trejo locked in their bathroom, they know it must have been one wild night. Will he not kill them long enough for them to explain themselves? And why do they all have tattoos of a woman wearing a sombrero?
Nanny McPhee
At the house across the street, Nanny Machete has the same powers Nanny McPhee has, except he gets stronger and handsomer as his charges get more and more well-behaved, while she gets more and more beautiful. Throughout the film, they grow more attractive to each other, until by the end the two have fallen in love, and they drive off in Machete's pimped-out Cadillac after threatening the kids not to misbehave, ever.
Twilight
I haven't read the fourth book, but does Jacob Black have an ex-con uncle we haven't met yet? If not, we're sure Stephenie Meyer would be willing to let the producers add one, once they explained the circumstances -- the circumstances being that more guys will go see the movie if Danny Trejo is in it.
What franchise would you like to see Danny Trejo join? Let us know below!
