Beauty and the Beast (Blu-ray/DVD Combo)
Before Up came along, Beauty and the Beast was the first animated movie to be nominated for the Academy Award for Best Picture, which means that every self-proclaimed film buff should have a copy in their DVD library, right? To sweeten the pot, this release includes three different versions of the film, a commentary track and a making-of doc, not to mention interviews with former cast members from the Broadway show, including Nick Jonas. Was a Jonas brother ever in a stage musical version of Saving Private Ryan? I don't think so.

The Karate Kid (Blu-ray/DVD Combo)
Yes, it's kung fu the kid learns, and not karate, but we're supportive of any project that keeps Jackie Chan from singing.

The Secret of Kells
You probably missed out on seeing this independent Irish feature about a monastery that must finish illuminating a sacred text before Vikings attack, but now that it's on DVD, you can see why it was nominated for an Academy Award. You will never want an action figure of a bunch of monks so much in your life.

A Nightmare on Elm Street
Apparently, the best way to kill Freddy Krueger is to remove his charisma. All you have to do is make him a mumbler instead of a shouter and bam! No more sequels. (Also available via Movies on Demand.)

Holy Rollers
When Jesse Eisenberg wins an Oscar for The Social Network, you'll want to track down this movie, in which he plays a Hasidic drug smuggler. ...Well, after seeing Adventureland, Zombieland and The Squid and the Whale, of course. Let's not get ahead of ourselves.

Splice (Blu-ray/DVD Combo)
Is there anything creepier than this cautionary tale of gene-splicing scientists who commit the ultimate transgression and use human DNA to create a sexy, feral hybrid? (Also available via Movies on Demand.)

The Human Centipede
Yes. Yes, there is. Jesus, this might be the most disturbing double feature ever.
