What's with all of the movies this year with utterly unbelievable story lines? A hockey player becomes a tooth fairy? A ballerina becomes a swan? A hot tub becomes a time machine? Please. If these directors and writers can't keep their movies firmly grounded in the realm of realism, then we're gonna stop seeing them. Next thing you know, they'll be saying that people live in our computers, and Ryan Reynolds is a space cop. It's time we punished these filmmakers for subjecting us to their flights of fancy in our first-annual Movies Without Pity Awards!
Just as the Tubey Awards target television for its lack of believability and overall quality, the Movies Without Pity Awards tear the more ridiculous releases of 2010 a new one. Sure, they also honor the year's best films, actors, moments and effects, but one handeth giveth, and the other hand giveth backhanded compliments. Fresh categories will be available at the beginning of each week, and the ultimate winners will be announced February 18. Plus, we've created a Facebook app so you can share your votes with your friends!

This is even more ridiculous than the Tubeys. "King's Speech" and "True Grit" don't make the Best Drama list, but "Burlesque" does? Who are you, the Golden Globes??
I see you also buy into the Hailee Stanford as Supporting Actress nonsense, despite her being the central character who's in every scene.
And what is so ludicrous about the premise of Black Swan? The premise is that a ballerina goes crazy. Seems plausible enough to me.
So it seems what you have here is one or two people allowing us to choose whatever we want from their heavily skewed, truncated lists, chosen to reflect their own personal likes and dislikes. Ah, no thanks. Go have fun with that.
PS "Girl With the Dragon Tattoo" wasn't overrated IMHO, but rather one of the year's best. Since I can't reflect that opinion in the voting options I thought I'd add it here.
Heavily skewed and truncated is HOW WE LIKES IT. Perhaps King Grit would be happier over at TVGuide.com?
I dunno, maybe... does TVGuide.com actually bother to find out what a movie's premise is before condemning it as ludicrous?
