There's plenty of Disney being dropped this week. Too bad there isn't much Disney magic included.
Tron: Legacy
The original Tron is a mess, but at least its a likable mess. In the 80s, Jeff Bridges is some kind of arcade king, who gets sucked into a computer and survives because he was 1337 before anyone seriously spelled anything with numbers. Twenty years later he winds up stuck in a computer, but instead of going Rooster Cogburn he turns toward more Dude-like ways. At least there's a host of new light cycle battles and Daft Punk brought their A-game to the soundtrack. Disney has pumped tons of bonuses into this release, so you can spend hours and hours learning just how they made special effects that somehow look as good as they did in 1982.
The Chronicles of Narnia: Voyage of the Dawn Treader
Disney is determined to actually make all of the Narnia books into movies, and so we have reached the last story in which the Pevensies are the main characters. Watching it you'll see that the movie doesn't quite have the same sense of excitement the first story has, but it is way better than the second movie because it's on a boat. There are a few extras on the disc that might fill in some of the spots from the book the movie sort of brushed over, but don't hold your breath.
Little Fockers
These movies are this generation's Look Who's Talking. It seems like a good idea at first, but soon we will look back and see that we should be ashamed of ourselves for liking this.
I Love You Phillip Morris
I thought this movie was about a guy who does not want to quit smoking. Turns out it is about two dudes who try to escape prison. I think my movie would have been better.
Also out this week: Casino Jack and Arabesque.
New to Blu-ray: Taxi Driver, A.I:Artificial Intelligence, Arthur, Babe, The People vs. Larry Flynt, and Jawbreaker.

While I agree about Disney having lost some of its lustre (though Tangled was great), they actually ditched the Narnia franchise after Prince Caspian didn't do very well. Voyage of the Dawn Treader is distributed by Fox.
