Rooney Mara takes over from Noomi Rapace as the title character, hacker extraordinaire Lisbeth Salander, while Daniel Craig plays crusading journalist Mikael Blomkvist, who agrees to dig into the dark history of a prominent Swedish family in order to solve a decades-old crime. The rest of the cast is filled with ringers like Christopher Plummer, Stellan Skarsgard and Robin Wright. But for most movie buffs, Fincher and his visual mastery will be the star of the movie (Trent Reznor and Atticus Ross's score gets second-billing).
