Warning: Disaster Ahead

by Tippi Blevins June 24, 2008 2:28 PM
Usually, the Moviefile brings you news about casting, festivals, studio feuds, and other movie-related happenings. Today, I'd like to warn you about a disastrous parasitic infection. No, it's not salmonella in your tomatoes, or E. coli in your salad greens, but exposure to this infectious agent can be just as sickening. I am referring, of course, to Disaster Movie. ComingSoon has the first trailer of the new movie from the gang who brought you the Scary Movie franchise, as well as Epic Movie, Date Movie, and Meet the Spartans. Consider the trailer a sort of vaccine. Although not entirely effective, viewing it could prevent many, many people from falling victim to a more prolonged illness. If, however, you still find yourself in the theater watching this movie, below are a few symptoms you should look out for.

Why The Love Guru Bombed: An Analysis

MTV asks, "Why did Love Guru bomb?" to which I respond, "Are you kidding me?!" Despite my shock (and a little bit of rage) that they'd even ask this question, let alone try to blame Justin Timberlake, I'm going to answer the question. It bombed because of:

- The first trailer, which includes short jokes, cowboy jokes, hockey jokes, offensive religious jokes, alligator "snappy" jokes (no, seriously), and even a penis joke. Lovely.

Quantum of Injury

Quantum of Injury If you thought being James Bond was dangerous, you should try playing him on screen. Yet another accident has been reported from the set of Quantum of Solace, with reports that Daniel Craig was injured when the tip of one of his fingers was cut off during an action sequence.

Things We Lost In The Fire Shortly after it was reported that last Sunday's fire on the Universal back lot destroyed the studio's video vault, some sets and that archaic King Kong ride, studio brass came out assuring film buffs everywhere that nothing they lost was irreplaceable. Now there is some indication that that may not be entirely true.

Sharon, This is Kettle. You're Black.

From deities to entire countries, Sharon Stone can't seem to stop pissing people off. Her recent comments intimating that the Chinese government's "bad karma" may have resulted in the catastrophic earthquakes that have recently plagued the region angered a lot of people. Now those comments seem to have gotten her uninvited to some of the few places she's still welcome: Foreign film festivals. A spokesman for the Shanghai Film Festival, a place where just last year Stone sashayed down the red carpet (in a supremely fugly misshapen dress, I might add), sent the 50 year-old actress an angry letter demanding an apology and letting her know that she would not be welcome back anytime soon.

Universal Studios Blaze Threatens Hill Valley

The fire at Universal Studios that broke out at 4:30 a.m. Sunday destroyed part of a set from Back to the Future; the King Kong exhibit; some New York City and New England streetscapes; and, reportedly, a chunk of music history. [Don't worry -- the old clock tower from BTTF is fine. - Z]
