Did no other movie want to compete with the runaway train that is Unstoppable this week? The DVD offerings are slim, to say the least.
Did director Tony Scott and star Denzel Washington simply enjoy working on The Taking of Pelham 123 that much that they wanted to make another movie about a train, this time without John Travolta? I'm surprised more movies don't get remade without John Travolta. I bet Battlefield: Earth with no John Travolta is a fun, edge-of-your-seat thrill ride. (Also available via Movies on Demand.)
You Will Meet a Tall, Dark Stranger
I wanted to write a brief capsule summary for this movie, but it's linguistically impossible. I would need more space. There's a fortune teller, a prostitute, reincarnation... I'll just call it "Woody Allen's latest" and leave it at that.
Waiting for "Superman"
If only this were a Samuel Beckett-style movie about two fanboys waiting outside a movie theater for Superman Returns tickets to go on sale, and not a documentary about our nation's ailing schools. If only!
I was ready to dismiss this movie about a movie producer making a film about the dirtiest joke ever told, but then I saw that the producer was played by Christopher Meloni of Law & Order: SVU fame. Given how hilarious he was in Wet Hot American Summer, I'll pretty much give any comedy he's in a chance.
I have no idea what this movie is about. I just saw the words "Bill Nighy," "Christopher Lee" and "David Tennant" and I blacked out for a second. Nerd heaven.
Game of Death
No, not that Game of Death -- the one with Wesley Snipes.
