William Shatner Upset About Supposed Wedding, Star Trek Snubs

If Spock were around, I'm sure he'd be telling Captain Kirk that he was being a tad illogical. The man who played the original Kirk, William Shatner, went off on Mr. Sulu (George Takei), for a perceived non-invite to his wedding earlier this year, inferring that Takei was both sick and psychotic. In other news, Shatner has already made the list for my upcoming nuptials, whenever those might be. Takei, who came out of the closet in 2005, was married to his longtime partner Brad Altman in September of this year after California's Supreme Court ruled in favor of gay marriage. Many of the original Trek stars came to the ceremony, including Nichelle Nichols (Uhura) who was matron of honor, and Walter Koenig (Chekhov), who was best man. Shatner was an obvious no-show, though there seems to be some debate as to whether or not he was actually invited, since Takei said, "It is unfortunate that Bill was unable to join us for our wedding, as he indeed was invited to attend."

Pics and Clips: Sherlock Holmes, Twilight, Punisher: War Zone, The Argentine and Guerrilla

A multitude of new video clips, trailers, set photos and posters have leaked out over the weekend for various upcoming films, and this is your one stop to find it all.

Downey & Law, Crimefighters: First up, JustJared published photos on Friday of Robert Downey Jr. as Sherlock Holmes from Guy Ritchie's upcoming action film. He added photos on Sunday of Jude Law as Watson. They both look as dashing as you might imagine, all scruffy and in their period garb.

New Watchmen Set Diary Makes Dr. Manhattan Blue

If you've seen footage of Dr. Manhattan, the glowing, atomic superhero who plays a major role in Zack Snyder's Watchmen movie, you've probably thought to yourself, "How do they do that?" Or maybe you didn't. Maybe you know everything there is to know about special effects, and I'm a big stupidhead. Well, I may be a big stupidhead, but I don't think I'm alone in being curious about how they made the glow from a computer-generated character appear on the real-life characters he was interacting with. Luckily, this stupidhead need wonder no longer!

Watchmen Production Diary Now a Whole Hell of a Lot Sadder

Once a month, the official Watchmen movie website posts a new production diary, showing behind-the-scenes footage from the making of the film, showcasing the magnificent costumes, and the elaborate sets. It was presumed that they would continue until the film's debut, but now that the movie's release date is in question due to the ongoing lawsuit, they may have a few more videos to make if the release date gets pushed back to 2010. Perhaps that's another positive way to look at this situation -- if the movie gets delayed, we get more DVD extras!

Indiana Jones Gets Caught in the Rayne

Growing up in the 1980s, it was hard to avoid L.B. Rayne. The soulful crooner was ubiquitous, popping up every summer to write a catchy pop song about the latest movie blockbuster. But his biggest hit was arguably "Indiana Jones," his impeccably rhymed tribute to Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom, which came out... Okay, I'm just yanking your chain. The video is really the brainchild of Doogtoons founder Doug Bresler, who came up with the idea for a failed R&B singer with his brother Joe (who plays Rayne in the video) more than ten years ago. But the song is the perfect '80s pastiche, with cheesy rhymes and classic riffs in the vein of "Eye of the Tiger," and the visual elements -- Rayne jogging through the woods; a karate-kicking, violin-playing "Short Round" stand-in -- are wondrous to behold. Bresler promises more L.B. Rayne videos in the future, but for now, check out "Indiana Jones" after the jump.

Let's Just Watch, Shall We?

It's been a little while since I've talked about the Watchmen movie, but I thought it would be a good idea to take another look at it, since I'm feeling depressed. The next Harry Potter movie has been pushed back until summer, which means my wife and I won't get to see it before our baby is born -- and which means Watchmen will actually come out first! March doesn't seem quite so far away anymore! And since I'm pretty excited about it (perhaps more excited than I am about Harry Potter -- blasphemy!), I thought I'd share a few links to recent multi-media elements from the film.

Claymation: A Celebration!

by Kate Rogan August 13, 2008 6:05 PM
Claymation: A Celebration! I admit I might have been the only one with a Wallace & Gromit journal and bookmark back in the day, but I think others would agree that the duo is pretty hilarious. If you don't know who they are and failed to watch the British cartoon, allow me to school you: Wallace is the wide-mouthed, sweater-vested inventor always trying (and failing) to come up with the next clever gadget to make life a bit easier. Gromit, his faithful clay dog, acts as his partner in crime, cleaning up after his owner's mistakes. Unfortunately Gromit lacks a mouth, making it quite impossible for him to talk or bark (which is a shame, considering listening to anything or anyone with a British accent is "brilliant"). Hulu's snappy little series of W&G clips demonstrate some of Wallace's ingenious inventions, including the "shopper 13," designed to pick up Edam cheese from the local Pack and Save (see below). It won't be long before you find yourself adopting fancy British slang like "Cheerio!" or perhaps "Blimey!" ...or maybe that's just me.

The Studios are Taking Hostages

Hollywood is fighting for hostages -- or at least for the rights to potential films about those who were recently freed in Colombia. Variety reports that studio bigwigs and filmmakers are hot to get their hands on stories about the fifteen hostages released just last week. According to the report, "several potential projects are already taking shape and producers have begun tracking down almost everyone involved to make rights deals." Never let it be said that Hollywood is slow to act on a story. Slow to make an Indiana Jones sequel, perhaps, but not this. I wouldn't be surprised to find out that producers had stowed away on the commando helicopters that landed in the jungle.

Need A Good Cry? Eternal Sunshine Now Streaming On Hulu

Is there anyone on the planet who has not watched Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind and sobbed copious tears and thought, "If only it were possible to erase [fill in the blank] from my mind so I could move on and have an adult relationship and accomplish menial tasks like the folding of laundry or the washing of my hair"? Well if there is, that's about to change because Hulu posted the entire movie for streaming on their site today. [Thanks to Videogum for tipping us off.] Here, in no particular order, are five reasons (out of infinity) why EsotSM is the most brilliant and beautiful and heartbreaking movie in the history of the world, like, EVER. And this is NOT hyperbole you guys, at ALL.
