Top Gun 2: More Tom Cruise Sequels We Wanna See

With Tron Legacy poised to eviscerate our eyeballs, it's never seemed like a better time for studios to raid their back catalogs and turn their most iconic movies into franchises. Sure, Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps didn't exactly set the box office on fire, but, to be fair, it was a movie about banking. And why make a movie about a street when you can make one about a highway... to the danger zone? That's right, Paramount is supposedly looking to make a sequel to Top Gun, and they may even get original director Tony Scott to direct. Sure, the sequel could end up focusing on computer techs who pilot drone planes by remote-control (which should make for an interesting beach volleyball scene), but Tom Cruise would still be front and center, ready to sing a little karaoke. With that news, we'd like to see Cruise revisit most of his iconic '80s and '90s roles -- here are some sequels that we want to see.

Riskier Business
Princeton alumnus Joel Goodson (Cruise) is a successful businessman with a loving wife and two great kids. But when the daughter of his old flame Lana turns up asking for help, he gets drawn into an underworld of drugs and prostitution, and his old enemy Guido (Joe Pantoliano) threatens to tear apart everything he's built. To protect the secret of how he got into Princeton, he enlists the help of his friends from back in his brothel-running days (Curtis Armstrong, Bronson Pinchot) to stop Guido and rescue the girl, who may or may not be family.

Legend...ary
Princess Lily (Mia Sara) has abdicated her throne and settled down with Jack o' the Green (Cruise) on a farm by the woods where the unicorns occasionally visit them. But Darkness (voiced by Tim Curry, embodied by the Great Khali) survived their last encounter and still wants to erase the daylight so he can escape his subterranean prison. When he discovers another way, Jack and Lilly must reunite with their mystical woodland friends to save the day.

Rain Men
Charlie Babbitt (Cruise) has expanded his L.A. car dealership into a national chain of high-end showrooms, married his girlfriend and life is good. But when his autistic brother's care facility runs out of money, Charlie has to take in his brother (Dustin Hoffman) as well as his two roommates (Bill Murray, Al Pacino).

Nights of Thunder
Two-time Daytona 500 winner Cole Trickle (Cruise) is now a washed-up NASCAR celebrity, making appearances at shopping malls and liquor stores, where he's paid in booze. When he hears about the death of his old friend, pit crew chief Harry Hogge (Robert Duvall), and reads about the family Harry left behind, Cole is driven to reconnect with his neurosurgeon ex-wife (Nicole Kidman) and his own son, Warren. Realizing that driving was the only thing he ever did well, Cole makes a bid to get back in the game, going to Tim Daland (Randy Quaid) for sponsorship and challenging old rival Russ Wheeler (Cary Elwes) to a showdown.

For a Few Good Men More
After publicly humiliating and incriminating Colonel Nathan Jessup in court, Lieutenant Junior Grade Daniel Kaffee requested a discharge from the Navy. Now running his own private legal consulting business, he's tracked down by his old colleague Sam Weinberg (Kevin Pollak) and asked for help in petitioning for the release of prisoners from the still-active Guantanamo Bay detention camp. After returning to Gitmo with Weinberg and seeing the conditions there, Kaffee agrees to help, but soon finds himself facing off in a courtroom with Commander JoAnne Galloway (Demi Moore), his co-counsel in the Downey Dawson trial... and his ex-girlfriend!
