Bill's Most Excellent Follow-Up Project

So, you've probably been wondering what Alex Winter is up to. Winter exploded to superstardom as Bill S. Preston, Esquire, in Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure, as well as their subsequent bogus journey, and then created The Idiot Box for MTV and Freaked for circus/weed/Randy Quaid enthusiasts everywhere. Since then, he's been directing TV shows and music videos, and he's about to direct a follow-up to his smash-hit superhero movie from last year. ...You have no idea what movie we're talking about, do you?

Dark Knight Shatters Box Office Records

<i>Dark Knight</i> Shatters Box Office Records

The Dark Knight surprised no one by performing impressively at the box office. We all knew it would win the weekend. It had everything working toward that end: a talented star who died too soon in his final full performance; film number two in a hot franchise; and the adulation of pretty much every critic out there. There was no way this movie was going to open at anything but number one at the box office.

It's Probably Not About Cows

It's Probably Not About Cows

If you're a PBS or BBC geek like me, or just a lover of veterinary literature, the title All Creatures Great and Small probably brings up a very specific memory for you: Country vet James Herriot tending to his stable of animal patients. He treated horses, dogs, cats, and a pregnant cow or two--the latter by very memorably inserting his arm into the birth canal up to the shoulder. So when The Hollywood Reporter reported that the writers of Wanted have penned a script for a movie also called All Creatures Great and Small, it gave me a moment of pause. I started imagining Siegfried Farnon as the Morgan Freeman character, Sloan, recruiting young vets and barn yard animals into a secret fraternity of assassins. Dairy cattle would be instructed to "curve the milk" to hit their targets. But never fear; although Derek Haas and Michael Brandt's script is about animals, it's probably not about cows.

A Dream Deferred: Jeannie Gets Her Silver Screen Wish

A Dream Deferred: Jeannie Gets Her Silver Screen Wish Another old TV show-turned feature length movie has managed to find a way out of development hell--at least for the moment. Try to contain your excitement. After languishing for years as an in-development project and on the heels of not-great Bewitched and The Dukes of Hazzard, I Dream of Jeannie has a new writer, energized producers and is back in active development. The producers are so energized in fact, that it's hard not to get a little excited for them.

Development In Development

<i>Development</i> In Development In a recent interview with Radar Magazine, actress Alia Shawkat pretty much confirmed the glorious rumor of a much-anticipated Arrested Development movie. After I recovered from a dead faint, my mind began reeling with the possibilities. Of course, nothing in my wildest dreams would likely come close to the pure unmitigated radness that the movie is sure to deliver. So rather than come up with some potential plotlines and scenarios that will undoubtedly pale in comparison to the actual narrative, I would like to reminisce about some of my favorite guest stars over the years in the hope that at least a few of them turn up in the big screen version of the bestest, most insanely brilliant and awesome show ever to have aired in the history of television.* (*This is not an understatement.)
