Attention all Spider-Man fans: Start raiding your 401K and get thee to eBay. Sony Pictures, along with charity Stand Up to Cancer is auctioning off a trip to the Spider-Man 4 set on the auction website, even though the film has not yet had any talent attached, nor, I believe, is it yet written (though IMDb has James Vanderbilt credited with the screenplay). Regardless, Sony plans to release something in 2011, and if you're willing to drop enough scratch, you could be there to watch the movie magic happen.
In addition to the one-day set visit, the charity auction winner will get:
- A one-hour meet-and-greet with the cast (whoever that is)
- A walk-on/extra role in the film (well, a film) for the auction winner only
- A trip to the New York premiere (of something)
- Designer outfits to wear to the premiere for winner and guest from top designers
- The winner and guest will walk the premiere's red carpet (color of carpet not yet finalized)
If your name isn't Veruca Salt and you don't have a dedicated benefactor, start looking for one now, because the bidding is already up to $5,000. And while all that money is certainly going to a good cause, bidders at present don't really know what they're getting into. Perhaps the mystery of just who in the cast you're going to meet is part of the appeal? Could be Tobey Maguire, could be Mr. Plan B! And who will be directing your walk-on/extra role? Well, probably a second unit director, but you never know if Sam Raimi (or whoever the director will be) may or may not walk by. But at least these things are guaranteed: You will get a trip to New York, you will be outfitted in clothes that will probably be uncomfortable and involve the 2011 fashion fad equivalent of leggings, and you have until September 5 to come up with the dough. Good luck, Spidey fans!
