Jon Favreau must really like AC/DC. Or, more likely, the band's blistering guitar rock, violent lyrics and electrically inspired name simply make them perfect candidates to provide the entire soundtrack to Iron Man 2. Rockers providing soundtracks is nothing new, but rather than featuring all-new songs, like Queen did for Highlander and Daft Punk is doing for Tron, the AC/DC soundtrack will be a "greatest hits" collection, including some of their best-known anthems from as far back as 1976. (The promo video is set to 1980's "Shoot to Thrill.") With this in mind, we looked at other tentpole films slated for this year and picked the bands (and solo artists) with suitable back catalogs to provide all of the music for each movie.

If you didn't see today's movie DVD releases in the theaters, don't worry -- you didn't miss much. In fact, most of these movies are best enjoyed on DVD, for both financial and multi-tasking reasons. Put them on in the background as you crochet and/or drink.

So the news is out that (500) Days of Summer director Marc Webb will direct the Spider-Man reboot for Sony, plus two more installments after that. While the man only has one feature film under his belt -- and a hallucinatory musical rom-com, at that -- he's directed dozens of music videos since the late 1990s, which makes him as qualified as any music-video-director-turned-auteur. But what will the appropriately-named director bring to this blockbuster franchise, besides hundreds of terribly punny headlines? (Our favorite: "500 Days of Spiders.") We examined his relatively limited resume to see what we might expect in Spidey 2.0.

It's been talked about a lot in the past 20 years, but a third Ghostbusters movie has always seemed like a pipe dream, given Bill Murray's lack of interest, and his co-stars' unwillingness to, well... deal with Bill Murray. But with a major video game release and a new line of toys tantalizing fans, original director Ivan Reitman has signed on to direct the third installment next year, for release in 2012. With a script that features new and old Ghostbusters, as well as Dana Barrett's son Oscar, this could be a fan's dream come true... or another disaster from the director of Evolution and My Super Ex-Girlfriend. We don't know exactly what's in the script, but here's what we need to see in order for the busting to make us feel good.

On Monday morning, John Malkovich confirmed that he was in negotiations to play the Vulture in Spider-Man 4. By the end of the day, he was out of a job. That's because there is no Spidey 4 anymore -- director Sam Raimi walked away from the franchise when script problems (likely involving Raimi's love of the Vulture, and Sony's wariness of an old, bald villain) threatened the release date, and Sony has decided to re-cast and re-boot the whole damn thing. Raimi's three movies may have their flaws (especially the last one), but they were hugely popular, which makes this a sad day for a lot of people. On the other hand, we couldn't be more excited about a re-boot, even if the franchise is only ten years old. Here's what we'd like to see this time around.

James Bond fans have had plenty to say about the art-housening of Bond films lately, with the last two films having more in common stylistically with the Bourne films than the Bond franchise. Well, they ain't seen nothing yet. Sam Mendes, director of American Beauty, Road to Perdition, Revolutionary Road and Away We Go, will direct (or at least consult on) the next James Bond film. Additionally, writing chores will be partially handled by Peter Morgan, who also penned such tepid dramas as Frost/Nixon, The Queen and The Other Boleyn Girl. Looking back at their mostly sedate filmographies, we have some predictions as to what we'll see in the forthcoming action spectacle currently known only as Bond 23.

If it's Tuesday, this must be when ill-advised yet financially successful but ultimately disappointing blockbuster sequels are released to DVD. Also, it's the time of year when the Criterion Collection reissues their Christmas movies and snuff films. Classy!

First things first: I realize that no matter what I say about this movie, the Twi-hards are going to go see it. So if you fall into that category, go. I'm sure you'll love it (and you already got your tickets a month ago anyway), though I did hear quite a number of not-so-young ladies at the screening I attended complaining about the distinct lack of Edward (and Robert Pattinson's hair) in this film. But I'm guessing that most Twi-hards have read the books and are aware that this is the Jacob-centric installment. However, for the rest of the world that reads on here, be warned that spoilers abound.

Five years ago, when the first Saw came out, who could have guessed that a low-budget horror film starring Danny Glover, Dina Meyer and Cary Elwes at his most melodramatic would turn into a six-film franchise? Well, we're sure some people could have -- after all, low-budget horror movies make up the lion's share of film franchises. Still, the rate of one new Saw movie a year is impressive, and the fact that Saw VI comes out this month and they've already got Saw VII and VIII scheduled is incredible, if a no-brainer at this point. Still, the plot of the movies keeps getting more and more intricate, as do the deathtraps, so we thought we'd take a wild guess at where the franchise is going from here. Bear with us, it may get bloody.

When Bryan Singer left the X-Men film franchise to film the reboot of the Superman, comic fans were torn: on the one hand, he was leaving the characters he'd knocked out of the park twice already, in X-Men and X2: X-Men United, but on the other hand he was hopefully going to make Superman cool again. It's a win-win! Well, cut to a few years later, and it's a lose-lose: the retro throwback Superman Returns is underperforming at the box office and Brett Ratner's X-Men: The Last Stand is underperforming in fans' expectations. With Superman in line to get another, more reboot-y reboot, Singer is no longer involved, and is now talking to Fox about rejoining the X-Men franchise. While a small part of us would love to see a proper sequel to the first two decent X-Men movies, we mostly want him to stay far, far away. Here's why.
