I have quite a list in my head of headlines I never thought I would type without irony or a punch line. Among them, "Brett Ratner Directs Masterpiece," or "George Clooney Proposes to Moviefile Blogger," but "Jerry Lewis to Get Oscar" was somewhere really close to the top of the list. But the headline, my friends, is true. At this year's Academy Awards celebration, Jerry Lewis really will take home a golden statue.

If you've ever been to Hollywood, you know that prices can run pretty high on some things. A prime ZIP code in the Hills will set you back several million, easy. Chic clothes, regular spray tans, and the perfect veneers don't come cheap. Even dinner at a decent restaurant can cost a pretty penny. But it's possible to find a bargain, if you've got the right connections. For example, a mere ten bucks buys you a golden-skinned man with a perfectly ageless physique. On the down side, he's only a little over a foot high. On the plus side, he's highly portable! The man in question is none other than the famous Oscar statuette, and, unfortunately, only the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences can snag this deal. Or so says the Academy.

Academy Award-winning special effects and makeup artist Stan Winston died Sunday at his Malibu home after a seven-year battle with multiple myeloma. He was 62. Winston managed to be a creative force despite his illness, overseeing the creation of the physical suit for the Iron Man pic and serving as special effects supervisor for the upcoming Terminator Salvation: The Future Begins in cahoots with his employees at Stan Winston Studio.
