Booooyyyyy!, Hollywood To TWoP: Hello There!, Scary Monsters & Super Creeps, The History
Season of the Witch: The Ron Perlman InterviewNicolas Cage may be the star of the new medieval action-horror movie Season of the Witch, but he wouldn't last through the opening credits without his wingman, played by Ron Perlman. As a pair of Crusaders escorting a witch to trial through plague-infested Europe, Cage and Perlman's characters make great use of their shared history as soldiers, and Perlman steals his scenes with his wit and charm. We talked exclusively to the Sons of Anarchy and Hellboy star about the role, his co-stars, and what's next for him as Clay Morrow and as Hellboy himself.

For those of you that were around in 1973 and old enough to watch a primetime TV movie, let me firstly offer you my congratulations on finding the internet -- good job, you! Secondly, you'll have to tell me about the ABC telefilm Don't Be Afraid of the Dark, which I've learned has since turned into a cult classic. All joking aside (I'm giving myself until I turn 30 to make ageist remarks--eight more months and you old farts won't hear a PEEP out of me), I probably wouldn't know about the program anyway, because I'm a giant scaredy-cat who can't handle creepy movies. One man who can handle the creep, however, is Guillermo del Toro, who has just signed on to produce a remake of the ABC special for a theatrical release for Miramax.

Box Office Tally, Separate but Sequel, The Kongs of Comedy, You Got Comic Book in My Movie
Hellboy Outguns Hancock at Box OfficeHellboy II: The Golden Army accomplished a couple of major box-office feats this weekend: It unseated Hancock in a superhero vs. superhero competition for the No. 1 spot (though not by much), and it managed to get halfway to the first Hellboy movie's domestic box office take in its opening weekend.

Reviews of Movies We've Actually Seen, Separate but Sequel, You Got Comic Book in My Movie
Hellboy II: All Plot, No ActionYou know how sometimes something is so unexpectedly magical that it completely catches you off-guard and leaves you wanting more?
Well, that's how many people reacted to the first Hellboy movie: It was a wonderful addition to the genres of comic book and superhero movies, because it was those things and more. Hellboy wasn't really a superhero so much as a demon, after all, so it had that element. And it was funny, because Hellboy had a thing for cats, and loved watching TV and eating Baby Ruth bars. -
Let's Blame the Media!, Stupid Cinematic Celebrity Sayings, You Got Comic Book in My Movie
How Chris Nashawaty Ruined My SummerIn an article in this week's Entertainment Weekly Chris Nashawaty says loud and proud, "I hate superheroes" -- or, to be more specific, superhero movies. His opinion is that there are too many of them, that they're all the same and that they're ruining the summer blockbuster season, apparently by forcing non-superhero movies to go elsewhere, or not get made at all. If Chris wrote this article in an attempt to find his nemesis, like Samuel Jackson trying to find Bruce Willis in Unbreakable, well then, Chris, you've found me.

Director? I Hardly Knew Her!, I Voted for GORE!, Sci-Fidelity, Separate but Sequel, Taste the Reading Rainbow, The Biz, We Call Do-Over
Bees and Beavers Have Nothing on del ToroI don't think anyone would call Guillermo del Toro a fly-by-the-seat-of-his-pants kind of guy. He's definitely a planner. So much of one, in fact, that his professional calendar is booked through 2017. Currently -- and for the next five years -- knee-deep in The Hobbit, del Toro signed a three-year first-look deal with Universal in June of last year that will pick up after the epic New Line/Miramax project is finished.
