The A-Team: I Hate It When a Plan Isn't Very Well Thought-OutFive minutes into The A-Team, Hannibal Smith steps out of the Mexican desert and hijacks B.A. Baracus's van at gunpoint. Although strangers, the two quickly realize that they're both Airborne Rangers, and Baracus actually knows of Smith. It's a coincidence bordering on preposterousness, and it was at this point that I came to a realization: The A-Team is the guy version of Sex and the City 2. What A-Team has for guys (explosions, missions to Germany, prison terms) Sex and the City 2 has for girls (gay weddings, vacations to Abu Dhabi, brief detainment). And this totally chance meeting between two people in the middle of a desert? It's like Carrie meeting her ex-lover Aidan on the streets of Abu Dhabi. And while neither is a good movie by any stretch of the imagination, my guy genes were a little more lenient on A-Team's awfulness. What can I say, I am a prisoner of my gender.

It was a battle of the remakes this weekend, with the revamp of the 1983 TV series The A-Team going up against a transformed take on the 1984 movie The Karate Kid. In the end, the Kid delivered a crane kick to the A-Team's mohawked skull, pulling in $56 million to the team's $26 million and taking the #2 spot behind Rush Hour 2 for biggest martial-arts film opening ever.

Band/Movie Soundtrack Pairings We Want More Than AC/DC and Iron Man 2Jon Favreau must really like AC/DC. Or, more likely, the band's blistering guitar rock, violent lyrics and electrically inspired name simply make them perfect candidates to provide the entire soundtrack to Iron Man 2. Rockers providing soundtracks is nothing new, but rather than featuring all-new songs, like Queen did for Highlander and Daft Punk is doing for Tron, the AC/DC soundtrack will be a "greatest hits" collection, including some of their best-known anthems from as far back as 1976. (The promo video is set to 1980's "Shoot to Thrill.") With this in mind, we looked at other tentpole films slated for this year and picked the bands (and solo artists) with suitable back catalogs to provide all of the music for each movie.

Why Don't Movies Get Board Games Anymore? Inception and 5 Others That Need ThemIn the old days, before video games were as prevalent, movies regularly got their own board games. From obvious titles like King Kong and Raiders of the Lost Ark to head-scratchers like Platoon and The Godfather, every toy company was hoping moviegoers would want to bring the experience home. Nowadays, aside from some of the bigger kiddie films and Twilight, a movie is lucky if it gets its own version of Monopoly or Scene It. But the 25th anniversary release of The Goonies on DVD comes with a brand-new board game! How awesome is that? Hopefully, this will herald a return to the movie-specific gameplay that died out with Waterworld and Batman Forever, because there are some recent movies that seem tailor-made for a home version. Here are the ones we'd love to sit around and play on Friday night with the fam.

Adventures in Fakery, Little TV Shows That Done Hit the Big Time, The Casting Conch, We Call Do-Over
Re-Casting the '80s For the Big ScreenFox is getting together a team. Specifically, they're getting together The A-Team. The studio hopes to launch a movie franchise based on the '80s TV action series. So far, Ridley and Tony Scott are set to produce and Joe Carnahan of Smokin' Aces will direct what he promises to be a "real and accessible" movie that's not overly cheesy. Although... a little cheese would be okay, right? Right. Other '80s shows have made the jump to the big screen, like Miami Vice, even though it bore little resemblance to the original. A movie version of The Greatest American Hero also appears to be in the works. (My Will Ferrell-dar pings every time I read something about that project.) So I got to wondering: What other shows from the decade of parachute pants, frosty blue eyeshadow and popped collars could be turned into movies? Who would star in them? Who would direct? Here are just a few possibilities.
