Matthew Fox: Up In Smoke Another comic book movie is in the works: Variety reports that Matthew Fox is in talks to play the title character in Billy Smoke, a film based on the Oni Press comics.

If you're a comic book fan, surely you've read Billy Smoke, right? I mean, it must be at least a semi-popular comic if it's being made into a movie. Psyche! Billy Smoke hasn't even been released yet. The comic, written by B. Clay Moore and illustrated by Eric Kim, is set to be released by Oni next year.

Variety says the plot deals with "an elite hit man who's nearly killed during a botched job and realizes that his only way to find redemption is to rid the world of all assassins."

It's sort of like the non-vampire version of Angel (whose own movie never got off the ground), then: the lead used to be the bad guy and now has to redeem himself by eliminating more bad guys. Sounds like the type of movie (and comic) setup that could last a good long while. I'm talking sequels and spin-offs and all of that. Good choice, Matthew Fox. Much better than Speed Racer, anyway -- not that that's saying much.

Note: Oni has two other movie projects in development: The Return of King Doug featuring star/producer Ben Stiller, and Scott Pilgrim starring Michael Cera and directed by Edgar Wright.
