Garden Party

Garden Party

This is yet another web-of-life, everyone's-connected movie, but the difference here is that no one really cares anymore. The genre of "coincidence, happenstance, and serendipity" has been more played out than Adam Sandler and Mike Myers comedies (okay, okay, I might be overstating it).

At any rate, the latest addition to the genre is Garden Party, which actually has bigger things working against it than trying to capitalize on a major been-there-done-that genre. What's even worse, though, judging by the trailer, is the acting. Oh, right, and the dialogue, and the conceit that absolutely makes no sense.

Apparently, there are a bunch of kids, and one of them works for a realtor. Then another one works for her, too, to avoid having to strip for money. Turns out the realtor already has, though, and a pothead who likes the girl who won't strip is hoarding the picture. Maybe that's not what it's about, but... I'm sure it won't make any more sense or be any better than that. There appears to be a lot of kissing and sex and pretty young things, both male and female. That's about the most positive thing I can muster to say about it. And it sort of hurt me to even come up with that.
