Meet Dave

Meet Dave

It's shocking that Eddie Murphy can still get movies made with all of the big stink bombs he's been involved with lately. At least he's not dressing up and portraying every character in Meet Dave. And that's about the only thing that seems to differentiate it from any other bad -- make that terrible -- Eddie Murphy vehicle. Oh, and that someone really thinks they're clever for coming up with "Eddie Murphy... in Eddie Murphy... in Meet Dave."

Because, see, Eddie Murphy is actually a tiny space creature who, along with his whole colony of people, creates a giant Eddie Murphy robot that they live inside of while they study people on Earth. Or something like that. It's sort of Innerspace meets everything Eddie Murphy's starred in in the past five or 10 years. [I also think I saw this in Men in Black. - Zach]

Here's the thing: Murphy's a true comedic talent. We all know this, whether it's because we saw him in Raw, or Bowfinger, or even Dreamgirls, as recently as two years ago. But he makes it difficult for anyone to have high hopes that he'll make a good movie when he keeps churning out dreck like Norbit (that would be "Eddie Murphy... on Eddie Murphy," right?) as if he operates a bad-comedy factory. Wait... I think he actually does.
