If there's anything I like less than a spoof, it's ... No, there's actually nothing I like less than a spoof, which is why I find An American Carol to be so utterly offensive and annoying. I get that it's a David Zucker film, and he's the guy who (sort of) brought us the (sort of) classic, Airplane! But it's also a David Zucker film, and he's the guy who brought us several Naked Gun films and Superhero Movie. In other words, even when it comes to spoofs (which lack originality by their very nature), this should be unoriginal. It will be a churned out, irrelevant mess. Don't believe me? Watch the trailer. First of all, it's a spoof of Michael Moore, who is so last year (or five years ago, but who's counting?) And the cast includes some of the best talentless hacks in the business, from Gary Coleman to Kelsey Grammer to Leslie Nielsen to Trace Adkins (yes, the country singer who gave the world Honky Tonk Badonkadonk). And if that's not enough for you, there are lesbian jokes (he thinks they're men! Get it?) and Muslim jokes (they all have the same name! So hilarious.) and every other offensive, stupid, or outdated joke you can think of. BLOG ARCHIVES
