Repo! The Genetic Opera

Repo! The Genetic Opera This is a musical, but it's a far cry from High School Musical 3 or Mamma Mia! or any other recent mainstream theatrical musical for that matter. Repo: The Genetic Opera is very much its own beast. This is more like rock opera version of Children of Men . It appears to be about a future in which everyone's organs are failing and the world is filled with folks addicted to surgery and painkillers.

Oh, and did I mention that Anthony Stewart Head stars? That means we get to see Giles singing again. He plays the titular repo man, who is living a double life as a father to our main character, Shilo (Alexa Vega). Paris Hilton also makes an appearance, but don't let that get you down: She looks nothing like herself here, with a black wig and dark, dark eye makeup. The costume is perfect at disguising her. So good that I actually had to rewind the trailer to make sure it actually just said that was Paris Hilton. The movie looks bloody and violent and more than a little disturbing (this might not mean anything, but it is from the Saw producers), so it's certainly not for the faint of heart. In other words: If you're normally a fan of musicals, you might not enjoy this one. It's nothing like the others.
