Oh, dear God. Twilight. What is there to say about this movie that hasn't been said, obsessed over, analyzed, disputed, said in a new way, retracted, and obsessed over some more? That's only sort of a joke. The buzz this movie's been building is unlike anything I can remember. It's sort of like Harry Potter, but because it appeals to a slightly older crowd (tweens right on up to middle-aged women), it's literally been everywhere. The actors in this movie have likely already had to learn that they can't really lead normal lives anymore. And it's barely begun. The trailer looks a little bit cheesy, if we're being honest. Which is appropriate, I guess, since the books are a little cheesy, too. That's not to say I'm not looking forward to seeing it, because I am. Having read Twilight,, I'm not all that interested in reading any more of the books. But as a movie? I'm totally in.
I love vampire stuff. But I don't want to continue to subject myself to books that are aimed at tweens and written simplistically. The story is what was compelling, not the actual writing, so give me a movie over the book any day. I just hope the fim loses a little bit of the moralizing the books gave us, courtesy of Stephenie Meyer. (I'm thinking since it's helmed by Thirteen and Lords of Dogtown director Catherine Hardwicke, it'll have a little more of an edge.) I'm also banking on the tension and drama getting amped up a little bit, instead of the whole, "Bella goes to school. It rains. She falls in love. He's mysterious. He's more mysterious. It rains. He's a vampire. She doesn't care. It rains. WHEN WILL ANYTHING HAPPEN?!" It's going to have to jump into the action, and quickly, to keep us involved. Plus, it can't be a six-hour movie, so I'm guessing the early stuff is what they'll leave behind. That could lead to an excellent vampire film.

You say you haven't read the books yet you comment on the books. Am I missing something here? (they were quite well written and good btw).
I read Twilight and thought it was pretty poorly written...but I do agree that the movie will probably be better, with the new dialogue and more emphasis on plot.
Yeah, that's a pretty spot on summary of the books (Bella moves in. She's clumsy but pretty! Mysterious guy stalks her. She falls in love with him. Blah, danger, blah, vampire family.) -- and it's written quite simplisticly. Where my adjectives at?
Lol at your description of the book. Pretty much exact in its description. I loved it, but yeah, not one of the better writers of our time.
Trust me, you can think the books are cheesy without having read them.
I swear to Jeebus, if I read 'and my favorite crooked smile' one more time....COME ON. I could do a drinking game all by myself, every time I read 'crooked smile' take a shot, and I'm fairly certain I would be unconscious twenty pages in.
This movie hasn't even come out yet and I'm already tired of it. And yes, I tried to read the first book. It was awful.
Having read all 4 books (yep I'm embarrassed) you pretty much nailed the basic storyline.
And yet I'm still looking forward to the movie(s).
So looking forward to the movie. I'm going with a friend who loves the books as guilty pleasures, so she shouldn't have a problem if I snark or burst out laughing at the GlitterPires.
I look forward to the movie only in the hopes of it giving the story better justice than the book. Granted the overall plot is worthwhile, but Meyer's fangirly writing gives me a stomach ache every time Bella swoons, which is pretty much every other paragraph, sometimes more.
It is the most wonted vampire movie. Very body loves to see vampires in love. I personally believe that Twilight is a changing event for many vampire movies. As the vampire loves to ordinary women and also because of that her life gets into danger. Not by him but by vampires who seek blood is in the town. Waiting to see it http://blog.80millionmoviesfree.com/in-theaters/twilight-2008-can-vampires-love
it is going to be grate romance.
Okay. Let me say this once and loudly. THE TWILIGHT SERIES WAS NOT WELL WRITTEN. IT WAS HORRIBLY WRITTEN. HORRIBLY. AND IF YOU THINK IT IS WELL WRITTEN THEN YOU NEED TO READ MORE BOOKS. AND BOOK THAT YOU BUY IN THE GROCERY STORE DO NOT COUNT. VISIT A LIBRARY.

Let me try this again...
I love Twilight. I fell in love with Edward Cullen and his chiseled good looks just as Bella did. I can't wait to see the movie. I buy all of my books at grocery stores.
you actually said it twice.
i agree with the books not being written that well, but i think you have to admit... for a non-writer's very first book... i think she did pretty well. it's the story that appeals to everyone, and the idea of a "perfect man", but also with the small flaw of being a vampire. just trying to help those who "don't get it".
