If you think four hours sounds too long, you might want to watch Motorcycle Diaries, which manages to fill the entire length of a movie with Che's life story before he even becomes a revolutionary. Well, it looks like this one goes all the way to the end, so you have to expect to dedicate some time to it. And that trailer for the four-hour version looks pretty phenomenal (if you can forgive the brief moment when the music swells and you feel like you're watching some sort of inspirational sap-fest). The only problem I can see in the trailer is that it's painting Che as all hero. I want to see the whole thing, both sides, warts and all -- not just this heroic martyr version of things. Maybe the trailer's leading me astray and we'll get a look at Che's flaws as well as his accomplishments. Either way, Benicio Del Toro looks well on his way to another Oscar. Soderbergh, too, possibly.
