11:30: Hard to hate on Meryl winning when it's been 29 years since her last Oscar victory. This also means that the voters won't have to give her another statue for another twenty-nine years.
11:31: Even Meryl recognizes that: "I'll never be up here again," she says. Nah, we know that you'll still be making movies (and winning awards) in twenty-nine years at the young age of 91.
11:34: And it's up to Tom Cruise to hand out the night's biggest award and introduce the requisite nominee montage reel.
11:35: Could another Meryl Streep-like upset happen here? We're still betting big on The Artist
11:36: And we're right! The Artist becomes the first silent film since the very first Best Picture winner (1927's Wings) to win the big prize.
11:37: Harvey Weinstein gives the producer a hearty handshake. That's two Best Picture winners in a row for ol' Harvey. The Weinstein Company is back, baby!
11:39: A short goodbye from Billy Crystal closes out an uninspired telecast. Happy with (most of) the winners. The show itself? Let's just say we won't blame any of you if you stopped watching after the first ten minutes.
11:45: One more time, here's our handy list of what won what. See you back here next year.
