Apple Store. Carrie informs Jack that Marshall's tracking program has picked up the gathering of The Twelve. Something's going down. Sydney calls Jack and tells him that Marshall and Rachel are safe, and he relays this info to Carrie. She weeps. Syd tells Jack about the absent Trio of Eeeeevil and Jack tells her to head to Zurich to check out the meeting of The Twelve. "This is what we've been waiting for," says Sydney. "We can bring them all down." Jack tells her that it's almost over. Yes, it certainly is, Jack. In more ways than one. Thank god.

Marshall's regaling Dix, Vaughn, and Getty with his amazing tale of the Day He Told Sloane To Cut Off His Hangnail while Rachel looks on in amusement. Everyone indulges him until Sydney asks about the cave-mapping in Italy. Marshall mentions that Sloane said the thing about how he should have known, and Syd and Vaughn share a look. Syd asks Rachel where in Italy they were looking, and she tells her Umbria. "Mount Subasio," says Sydney. "Dad's team can handle The Twelve in Zurich. But if they're going after something in Mount Subasio, I'm going to beat them to it." Vaughn says he's going with her.

Mount Subasio. Syd and Vaughn hike up a "mountain" as "snow" "falls." They reach a summit and find a crevasse. Syd wants to go in, but Vaughn isn't sure about it. She is. He hooks her up and puts a tracker on her. They "kiss" and it's not "awkward" at all and finally Syd heads down into the crevasse. Once inside, she makes her way through the K-Mart version of Superman's Fortress of Solitude while all the kids in line for the Matterhorn wonder if that second Mickey pop was possibly a good idea. The set is bad, is what I'm saying. There's been talk on the boards that the team ran out of money by the time they got to this set, so that's why it looked so cheap. And to that I say, poo on you, ABC. You dropped the ball with this show so many times, but now, in its eleventh hour, you can't be arsed to throw a little extra coin at a damn snow set? Fuck you, ABC. And fuck the possibly imaginary polar bear you rode in on.

Syd treks through the "ice cavern" and comes across Sloane, standing over by some "icicles" with the amulet raised above his head. "Sydney, you came," he says calmly. "Oh, and how do you like the place? I made it myself out of Styrofoam peanuts and rubber cement. I'm so crafty!" Sydney raises her gun and Sloane warns her that one shot could trigger a cave-in. Syd says he's coming with her, and Sloane asks if she remembers going to live with Emily and him. "I try not to dwell on it," she snits. Sloane blabbles a bunch of crap at her about how she was withdrawn and they tried to reach out to her but it was impossible, so they gave her a bunch of stuffed animals. We get a shot of Carrie and Marshall hugging back at APO as Sloane continues to blather about Sydney's sad childhood. And every morning, when Sloane went to wake her up, there they'd be, beneath her blanket. She had tried to "rescue" them from a storm. And even then, Sloane wondered when she'd realize that she can't rescue everyone.
