Vaughn asks Syd for a sip of the water, but she doesn't want to give it to him because back in the real world, Syd gave him the water and then he crashed. "Shh, shh," says Vaughn. "They can hear us. Come closer." Syd leans down to him and Vaughn tells her that they're using him against her and the only way to defeat them is for him to go away. Syd doesn't want him to go away; she misses him and she doesn't want to lose him again. "We'll find each other," says Vaughn. And then we switch to an earlier memory from Season Three when Syd and Vaughn were captured in the Korean prison and Syd said to Vaughn, "We always find each other." Suddenly, the baby kicks and Vaughn asks what it feels like. She takes his hand and puts it on her belly and he doesn't feel anything and then his face lights up as he says, "That?" Good god, Michael Vartan is gorgeous. Also? Vartan and Garner are terrific actors here, because how damn awkward must that be for him to have his hand on his ex-girlfriend's pregnant belly? But their scenes together are totally natural and lovely.
Back in the Hypno Torture Room, Dr. Funboy is instructing Sydney to stay with Vaughn. Back in the dream, some Korean guards enter and start kicking the shit out of Vaughn. Vaughn fights back and frees himself. Then there's static on a walkie on the floor and Vaughn disappears. Through the walkie, Dr. Funboy again instructs Syd to stay with Vaughn. He hits her with the Electric Stick of Honesty one more time just for kicks and we head back to the memory, where Sydney hears Vaughn's voice come out of the walkie. She picks it up and tries to respond to him, but it keeps cutting out to static. "Don't let him leave you, Sydney," says Dr. Funboy. "Where. Is. Vaughn?" We head into the memory we started with at the beginning of the episode, with Sydney filling up the tea kettle with water and Vaughn coming in from the market. Dr. Funboy is pleased to note that Syd and Vaughn are back together again.
