Next we have Ann and Chelsey. Nigel thinks that their group shot is best of all, because they work so well as a team. What he really wants to say is, "Your group shot is the best because Ann's in it." Nigel thinks that Chelsey's portion of the group shot is her best yet. She's full of life and charming. Ann, meanwhile, also gets kudos. With one hand on the hip, ALT thinks she looks like she has control over the universe. Tyra notes that this was one of the most awkward photo shoots she's ever seen in person, but Ann looks amazing in shot after shot. Tyra mimics Ann trying to walk down the street, to the delight of the other judges. Nigel tells Ann that she's lucky because a still camera captures only one moment. However, she'll also have to do commercials and be seen in public. As photogenic as she is, she also wants her public to love her. Nigel tells her to try to work it out. Ann's individual shot comes up and ALT screams, "Beyond! Ah! Beyond. Everything. Ever! That you've done." Once again I totally don't think it's that great. I mean, it's fine. But the Ann tongue bath confuses me. Chelsey's photo is workable as well. Nigel says it's cute and sweet, but not high fashion in large part because of Chelsey's expression. Patrick says it's a pretty good picture. Chelsey admits that she was nervous to be shot by Patrick, who is her superhero. Patrick laughs nonchalantly, as you do when you're French and accustomed to being a superhero to 19-year olds.
Finally there's Chris. Her photo with the male model is totally adorable. Tyra thinks it looks like a beautiful spread in Teen Vogue. ALT, however, doesn't like it, simply because he doesn't feel "the zing." However, he does love her individual shot, which is happy and full of vitality. Patrick likes her movement, but thinks her smile is too wide and needs to be controlled.
The judges deliberate. And as they do so they look at new beauty shots of each girl. I have no idea why, other than it's a terrible thing to waste a Patrick Demarchelier photograph. Liz's beauty shot works well because she's being believable, finally, and not hamming it up. ALT appreciates the softness in the beauty shot, which is rarely seen in Liz. Kendal's beauty shot is gorgeous, and her individual photo features the best movement, according to Patrick. Tyra thinks she looks like a new, fresh girl who still knows how to move. Nigel points out that the problem with Kendal would be booking her in the first place, since she's a total bumpkin mess. Esther is great, though Patrick notes that she's shy and nervous. At the same time, Nigel says, her shyness is cute and sweet. Kayla's beauty shot is mean, still and flat. Patrick thinks she was stiff, and Nigel says that she's not the star of the show. Kayla's foot pain was also a problem, as you might have heard. When you focus on Jane and only on Jane, she gets nervous. However, she's great in a group shot. Except for that other jumping shot that they loved, of course. Kacey looked like a snooty African exiled princess in her group photo, according to ALT. Nigel says that she has all the pieces to be a model, but when you stick them together they're a dead-eyed mess. However, she's a good spokesperson and her confidence will get her far. But as a model, you need to be able to take a picture.
