Tyra asks which model is going to get booked, and while Jay answers that Laura will, Cutrone says that Illuminata Sophie will. She has special Illuminata jazz hands to go along with this declaration, because she is clearly losing her mind. Cutrone says that she'd pick Sophie for a casting before Laura, because Laura is prettier on film than she is in person. Ouch. And then the judges take a look at the music videos. Sophie was super sexy with her video Flipstick, and won Cutrone's heart. Tyra could tell that Sophie couldn't dance at all, but her presence was so strong that it didn't matter. Laura, by contrast, was snarly and weird in her stopping, dropping, and tooching. Then there was the silkworm shoot. Laura was sexually attracted to the silkworms, and it worked for her. This shoot was a rare misstep for Sophie, who just thought about her boyfriend cheating on her and almost cried through the shoot. Jay says that he'd rather have someone who is unconventional and can make some noise.
The judges then consider the Macau Tower shoot. Nigel says that Laura came alive, and he loves that she's willing to do whatever it takes to get the picture, which is inspirational for a photographer. Tyra points out, however, that Nigel said she was so crazy on set that he had to calm her down. Well this is the first we've heard about that! Apparently he was worried that she was going to fall off of the tower and ruin the dress. Nigel acknowledges that this is true, but says that even though you have to pull her back you get the magic. At Toronto Fashion Week, Sophie was memorable and the press loved her. Nigel says that she wasn't particularly memorable to him at the beginning of the competition, but the makeover transformed her. I guess that's what pink hair will do to you. And since Tyra renamed her Illuminata, she's shone. Kelly likes her persistence, and says that Sophie has a great "Little Engine That Could" PR story. The judges argue over who would make a better Extra correspondent, and Cutrone gives a point in Sophie's favor by saying that she's demure and not so crazy that she'd freak out a celebrity. She also wants to set up Sophie as Jude Law's new girlfriend. Laura's panic attack makes Tyra nervous, though Cutrone says that plenty of people in the fashion industry have panic attacks and they just have to figure out how to deal with it. Nigel argues that Laura has extraordinary potential as someone who is both beautiful and real, and people will go the extra mile to make her work. Tyra leads us into commercial by saying that America's Next Top Model...is either an American or a Brit. Well, thanks for that scintillating info.
