More fighting. Angel notes that Connor is stronger than the others, and asks if he's a vampire, too. Connor asks, "You don't remember?" It would have been nice to see Connor's encounter with Wesley up in the lobby before he rescued Cordy, because it's unclear whether he knows they're all under a spell or if he thinks this is a typical Saturday night at the Hyperion. I guess if we'd seen that, then the actual rescue wouldn't have been a surprise, but it's not as if I thought for a second that Angel would kill Cordy, and the central conceit of the episode is dramatic irony anyway, so why not? Anyway. Angel says he just remembers waking up "with that fine lot of hypocrites." Connor repeats, "Hypocrites," with some interest. Angel adds, "I'm supposed to be evil, but they attack me without cause, accuse me because I'm different. They're as bad as my father." So I guess Angel is just acting evil because it's expected of him. Which I can buy, since I think that's why he was especially bad with Darla and nice and cuddly with Buffy. But of course, the important thing here is that Fathers are Bad. In case you missed it, Connor says, "Fathers. Don't they suck." Angel rants, "'Be good! Fear God! Do as you're told!' And the whole while I know good and well [that] he's had his share of sinning." Connor seems to be picking up on the dramatic-irony thing, since he says that sounds like his dad. Angel asks if Connor's father is a "self-righteous bastard," and Connor replies,"You'd be amazed." Then he lunges at Angel, who dodges. Connor asks if Angel is afraid of him, and Angel admits, "I'd rather be satisfying my sinful urges with the Chase girl." Connor warns Angel to stay away from Cordy. Angel asks, "The girl is yours, then?" When Connor agrees, Angel says that she didn't mention Connor. Whereupon Connor picks up a handy skillet and brains Angel with it. And then kicks him into a wall.
Upstairs, a freed Cary finishes grinding something with a mortar and pestle he just happened to have handy, and places some hummus on Fred's tongue. Fred swallows and winces. Cary asks if it worked. Behind Cary, we see Gunn lunge out of the office, prepared to do something quite violent to Cary. Fred shouts, "Wait!"
Angel punches Connor. A lot. Connor punches Angel. Once. That goes on for a bit, and eventually Connor is lying at Angel's feet. Connor moans, "You happy now?" Angel, disgruntled, says, "I didn't ask to be attacked. I didn't ask to be a freak. Hell, I didn't even ask to be born." He wanders away from Connor. Uh oh, he remembered how to brood! Connor calls Angel back as he stands up. Angel asks if Connor wants another beating, and Connor replies, "Oh, I so almost had you." Fred suddenly leans through that inexplicable window and shouts, "Hold it! Nobody kill anybody! Please?"
Wesley steps into the lobby, where Gunn and Fred are tidying up, and exits. Frame non-story Cary says, "So all's well that ends well, right, kiddies?"
Cut to Cary, feeding Cordy her dose of hummus while Angel watches intently. Then we get a Cordy-POV-shot of Angel and Connor staring at her. She looks horrified, turns, and runs away in slow motion.
