Cyrus Vanch watches the television news to learn about the dangerous archer in town. He claims that by using "deception and intimidation," the archer has stolen his move. Oh, you invented that, did you? Vivian comes in and asks, "Remember that attorney? Laurel Lance?"
Tommy and Oliver go through the resumes for nightclub chef. Oliver suggests "this guy," who allegedly won Top Chef, Season Six. That would be Michael Voltaggio, then. I liked that season, although I was rooting for Kevin. I don't think Michael Voltaggio is looking for work by submitting blind resumes at a nightclub. Shouldn't he at least be at a restaurant? Tommy tells Oliver that Laurel is working with The Hood Guy. But then he calls him "The Hood" when he adds that Laurel's infatuated with him. Oliver pretends to be outraged that she's got a crush on a murderous vigilante. Of all the people on this show, only Oliver recognizes what he actually is! Oliver suggests Tommy have an honest chat with her. That sounds riveting!
Flashback Island! Remember how Oliver found an airplane with a belligerent Australian in it? Well, Oliver's new friend tells him there's an airfield ten klicks away. He tosses Oliver a scimitar. The deal is that Yao Fei wants them to take the airfield together. But first, a test! He attacks Oliver with a knife and offers tips like "Always stay behind your sword" and "To say you fight like a girl would be a compliment." How appropriate. He fights like a cow. He punches Oliver in the face when he finds out Oliver ran and left Yao Fei behind.
Laurel leaves a message for Tommy, then two goons break into her apartment. She does a pretty good job of defending herself, whacking one with an umbrella and smashing the other's head through some glass. But then Cyrus is there with a taser and she's unconscious. Laurel is pretty much Lois Lane at this point: knows Oliver, has a crush on the Hood and gets kidnapped to advance the plot.
Diggle drives Moira to a building that she claims contains her accountant. I would think a billionaire's accountant would come to her house. Well, and that she'd have a whole squad of accountants. She encourages Diggle to take the night off as she lets herself out of the car. Diggle watches her enter the lobby but he does not see her enter Office 606: Faquet-Lemaitre Consulting. He hears her through the door, though, so he sneaks into the supply closet next door and uses a device to listen through the wall. He hears her announce, "Carl Ballard will not be a problem anymore!" Malcolm Merlyn is a little disappointed that Ballard will still be alive. He'd also like the Queen's Gambit destroyed and disposed of. Just then a man enters the supply closet and wants to know what Diggle's doing. He's security for "the man she's meeting with," because it's important to keep Diggle and Oliver form knowing about Malcolm Merlyn for now. The security guy saw Diggle put something in his pocket, but Diggle comes up with a lighter. He claims he was trying to get a smoke.
