Quentin is at the police station talking to the Merlyn Global representative. It's Tommy, of course. Quentin is too delighted about that and for once it's not because he hates everyone his daughter has ever dated. This time, his objection is that Tommy has only been with the company for like a week, so he doesn't know anything. Oliver claims that he'd be happy to help the police with anything they need, but he needs more than some phone calls. Laurel comes in as Tommy is handing Quentin his card. Quentin tells a random cop to snoop around the Merlyn computer systems, although he'll need to get a court order from "a judge who owes me a favor." Man, that is not how the justice system is supposed to work. Laurel doesn't want to tell her father why she broke up with Tommy, and then she says it was Oliver. Quentin can't believe this crap with Oliver Queen all the time. Although he admits that Oliver does seem different since the island.
Felicity hacks for awhile while Oliver asks if they're there yet. She promises to pump her fist and shout "Yes!" if she gets in. Finally she decides that there are too many firewalls, so she needs to connect her laptop directly to the mainframe. But that, of course, is practically impossible, because the mainframe will be in the main headquarters on the 25th floor, and is only accessible through restricted-access elevators. I'm still not convinced they really mean "mainframe." Surely she could just access any network drop in the building. And I bet she's really looking for the server room.
Heist music plays as Oliver walks into the Merlyn Global building. He tells the receptionist that he has an 11:00 meeting with Tommy Merlyn. And apparently he does, which is disappointingly straightforward. Felicity claims to be delivering some Big Belly Burger to... Diggle, who has gotten a job in security. What? Part of their plan to sneak in involves getting Diggle a legitimate job with the company? How long does it take to get hired as security? They'd have to at least run a background check, not to mention the various interviews. There's no way to get hired at a giant company without taking at least a month or two. They should have just gotten Felicity hired, since she's extremely well-qualified.
And Moira said that Malcolm used HER company to weaponize the Markov device. So why wasn't Felicity exploring the Queen Consolidated system, since she already works there?
Okay, moving on. Step one of the plan is working, since Felicity and Oliver got into the elevator together. But then it immediately goes wrong, because someone gets in there with them. So Oliver throws the guy's stuff out and the doors close. We see that Diggle gave the burger to the other guy in the security office and it knocked him out. So now Diggle -- who was hired earlier the same day -- is the only person running the security room. Oliver and Felicity ride up to floor 24, then they stop the elevator. Oliver hops up out of the roof and helps Felicity up. He opens his briefcase, which has a grapple gun. Of course it does. He says not to look down the elevator shaft, and Felicity says she just learned she's afraid of heights. He says to hold him tight and she says she imagined him saying that under other circumstances. Again with the random, unmotivated hint that she likes him. Oliver fires the grappler gun and they Luke-and-Leia across to the other shaft.
