Outside, fashionable folk eat lunch (I call continuity!) and boilerplate exposition pumps up how faaaabulous New York is during fashion week, with potential for unknowns to make it big. I thought this show was contemporary, not set in Tin Pan Alley circa 1933. That wide-eyed crap doesn't fly anymore. Nonetheless, the camera zooms in on a dreamy young fella having dinner with his family at, I think, Balthazar. Dad thinks the bill is too high, so he decides to stiff the waitress. He gruffs about how they'll be paying off the vacation for the next three harvests (farmer alert!), and he semi-ominously tells Dreamy McCornfed that he'll be helping. Dreamy shares a knowing smile with Ma McCornfed.
Eight minutes until the finale, and Sonja rolls in like she owns the place, spouting off about what a nightmare it was to get in. She asks for her dress and goes into a private dressing area.
Back at the restaurant, Dreamy approaches the waitress and gives her the tip that his Pa "forgot." She practically swoons. Because he's positively modelesque. As Dreamy walks out, he hears some A-hole from Central Casting grousing about the poor service. Understanding Dreamy tells him to walk a mile in her shoes, the guy doesn't give him glance while laughing off his naïveté. As dreamy leaves, though, the A-hole gets a glance and looks intrigued.
Tents. Sonja comes out semi-nude complaining that the dress wasn't tailored to her. The stage manager curtly informs her that it's a signature piece, then tells Zac that the dress needs to be let out. No can do, says Zac. Marissa eyes her opportunity and suggests that she can fit into the dress. Instead, Zac looks at blondie (Raina) and says tersely, "Her." The stage manager calls in the emergency hair and makeup team, telling Raina this is sink or swim. Sonja storms off.
Downtown, the A-hole catches up with Dreamy and introduces himself. He's a modeling agent who makes "beautiful people very rich." If this weren't a scripted show, I would think it was a preview for the next Tyra Banks Show. Sleaze! The A-hole asks Dreamy's name. It's Chris Andrews, from Iowa. A-hole asks whether he's ever done any modeling.
