And then, after she's calmed down, she's on the phone with Bill at home, who's whining, "I don't want you there!" That makes two of them (three if you count Frank), but Barb says she can't leave Wanda alone, and Joey's not going to be home until midnight. Bill doesn't get why she went in the first place. Barb says it was so Bill wouldn't have to. "Every time you come here, you bring it back home." Sometimes in the form of a teenage sociopath. She claims, "It just doesn't affect me like it does you." To his credit, Bill realizes this is bullshit. And besides, he adds, this isn't a good time for Barb to be there. "This Abbott thing and night patrols, and the friction between Nicki and her family?" And the fact that he's basically sicced the Greenes on Juniper Creek and doesn't know what they're going to do or when they're going to do it? Not that he mentions that to his wife on ground zero or anything. Nicki happens to pass through the living room, and as soon as she hears that Barb's on the phone, she snaps up the extension and demands, "Where are you? I've been waiting for you to get back." You like how the "waiting" in that sentence implies that she hasn't been actively behaving like an asshole? She's pretty surprised to hear that Barb is at the compound, and I'd like to see how she'd react if Barb were sucking up to Adaleen. But as soon as Barb asks what's going on back home, Nicki can't wait to tell her about the fight between Margene and Ginger. This is of course news to Bill, as well. Nicki says she's "trying to smooth things over. [Ginger]'s staying with me." So of course Margene comes in, asking what Nicki's telling Bill. Bill covers the mouthpiece on his phone and asks Margene, "Why'd you fight with your mother?" like it was all Margene's fault. Margene explains, "Because Nicki told her before I was ready and now she hates me and thinks we've been keeping secrets from her." Bill yells at Nicki, who says, "Not true." Which part? Marjean tries to take Nicki's phone away so she can talk to Barb, so then we have Bill on one extension, watching his second two wives fighting in front of him, while the first wife calling from two hours away is wondering what the hell is going on. Margene finally gets the phone from Nicki and tells Barb, "Nicki doesn't have a mom any more so she's trying to steal mine." A little on-the-nose, but Margene clearly understands the importance of making her point quickly. And she's correct to do so, as fighting over the phone commences anew. Bill tells Nicki to hang up the phone and tells Margene, "Just…shape up." Both of them storm out, Margene pretty pissed that nobody is taking her side. Bill tells Barb to come back home and help with all this, but Barb refuses. She wants to see it through. How responsible of her, after learning the state of things back home. Maybe another visit from Frank doesn't seem so bad now.
