Then she moves into Phase II of Operation Make My Son Regret Visiting. Lois says, "Your father has taken this sad occasion to once more shame me and our entire family...I wanted to finally make you and Joey and your poor sister legitimate. He refuses to make me his legal wife." Bill can't believe this actually matters. Bill is not terribly observant, is he? That might be a weakness when dealing with three spouses. Lois points out, "It's not just [making you legitimate]. I s'pose I thought I'd finally have some protection. I don't own a thing. This house and the gas station...the priesthood council owns it all. I wanted something to fall back on and, well, I'm just out here." And now that Frank's occupied with his wall of matrimonial calico, you no longer have a gun to your head, Lois, so what's stopping you from leaving and living with Bill until you're on your feet? Ah -- here's what stopping her: a vendetta. Her father was the cult's one true prophet until the current one true prophet stepped in. So, she feels, "This isn't the life that was intended for me."

Back at the Henrickson homes plus, Ben is looking at the disposal while Margene whines, "I don't know why it's breaking?" "You put something down here you're not supposed to?" he replies, making fun of her tone. They stand up to look at the sink, and Ben snakes an arm around Margene to turn on the faucet. The disposal's not working, they can't call a plumber -- Bill is nothing if not thrifty, plus there's always the situational irony of the head of a do-it-yourself chain not being able to repair his own houses -- and then there's some hijinks with a juice box where, long story short, Benny's Not-Mom has got it going on.

Nicki's watching the Weather Channel when Ben comes over to ask her to check out Margene's disposal.

Back at the compound, Bill's at Joey and Wanda's cabin. It is the first piece of real estate I've seen there that makes a convincing argument for going off the grid: a lovely little cabin with a stone foundation and fireplace, plenty of windows, and the kind of lines that Sarah Susanka's always going on about. If this is the reward for cult membership... Anyway, there's a little bit of the host preliminaries, and then Bill asks Joey, "I want to make sure that you had no part in any of these land sales that are in pending lawsuits against him." Joey insists he's clean as a whistle. Wanda then comes over and asks brightly, "Who wants some cheesy toast?" Mmm, Welsh rarebit!
