Lois then heads into her house and kneels to pray, saying, "Dear heavenly father, I haven't always been the most steadfast -- You know that. I haven't always been as humble as I might have been. But You have offered me love, in spite of my failings. You have brought the boys back together again. Now we're cooking with gas! Watch over my boys! [pause] Please. Thanks." And I have to say, that little scene is just perfect: it gives such a great portrait of a woman who can't deal with anything unless she's stiff-arming it, not even her faith.

Then we are off Satan's dusty acre and back at Henricksons' homes plus. Barb is rushing out the door, but she's waylaid by the DHL delivery dude. It's tickets to the big event. Benny watches from the porch and offers a "Go, Mom!" as Barb dances by.

The camera then swings over to Nicki's house. In the kitchen, Rhonda's asking Nicki, "How do they pick which mother will be Mother of the Year?" Nicki is buttering waffles; Margene is hanging out and inhaling a bowl of cereal. As Nicki butters, she says shortly, "A committee." Rhonda presses, "I mean, how'd they pick Barb? Is she more important than you two?" Nicki shoots the waffles a dark look, and lets Margie field that one. She pertly answers," Um, no." Since Rhonda failed to stir up discord on her first try, she gives it another go with, "Was there something lacking in you two?" Margene gapes at Rhonda's question while Nicki says matter-of-factly, "Only one person can be Mother of the Year. Teeny nominated Barb, so that's how it happened. Here." Rhonda takes the proffered napkin and asks, "What is it?" Nicki replies, "Breakfast. To go." Rhonda gives Nicki a look that manages to convey how very badly she wishes she had the power to shoot beams of fire with her mind. As she flounces off, she stops and says, "You're irritable, Nicki. Try to find time for a nap this afternoon." Then she heads out.

Nicki fusses at Margene, "It's just an award. I want to know when it turned into such a big deal." Margene smiles into her cereal, "When we found out it was being held at the governor's mansion." Nicki blusters about Barb and Margene says, rather forcefully for her, "You can't rain on her parade."

We then zoom back to Juniper Creek. The dusty yard was my first clue, but the gaggle of pregnant pioneers confirmed it. We then zoom to the inside of Roman's office, where he's getting the news that Holloway and his lovely ladies have skipped town. Alby then adds, "Bill is on the compound." Roman replies, "I know. Inroads...inroads, inroads." As Alby sits down, Roman grouses, "Why is he so relentless? What have we done to deserve such calumny?" What, other than try and shake Bill down, send your son to scare the snot out of his kids, send your son to steal Bill's financial records, work to turn Nicki into a Sleeper Spouse to be activated on short notice, bury his lawyer under a mountain of paperwork, and evict his family? Nothing, I'm sure.
