And now we're outside Jonas's office, and I'm not sure how Jaime has gotten here or knows where it is, but here she is. She interrupts him mid-phone-call, and when he finally hangs up, he reports that it was his daughter, and he thinks sixteen years old is definitely too young to be on the pill. I'd say maybe, Dad, but I'd also say a fourth meeting with a possible employee is too soon to discuss your daughter's birth-control decisions. They small-talk this point for a moment, and Jaime wonders if he isn't curious about why she's there. He says he knows why she's there -- she saved the suicide lady, and now she wants to help more, because she's realized that "Jonas is right; I need a larger purpose in my life." He encourages her to come right out with "Jonas is right," and there's a dry humor here that I, again, kind of like. It's not great, but they're in the ballpark. She turns him down flat on the part where she admits to his wisdom, but she says, "This 'saving the world' thing? I'd like to give that a try." She says she has some rules. She has to be home by 7:00 to have dinner with Becca, she doesn't work weekends, and they have to get Becca on the health plan. Again: small "heh." She also needs to be off this Friday night for the talent show, where Becca is doing something from Annie Get Your Gun. They couldn't even make it Rent? Or Hair? It had to be something that once had Ethel Merman in it? ["Hey, even teenage rebel punks have the sun in the morning and the moon at night." -- Joe R]
