Helena treads over the broken glass in the restaurant, surveying the scene. Suddenly Reese bursts in the front door, pointing his gun at her and yelling, "Freeze!" and then relaxing when he sees who it is, and also, in perhaps the best example of just what a useless cop he is, failing to notice through the shattered picture windows that the bad guys are either dead or gone. He says the owner of the restaurant tipped him off to a high-level meeting. "I thought maybe Hawke…" "You thought right," says Helena. So maybe he somehow missed the shooting and failed to notice the destruction from the outside; in that case, he just barged in, gun drawn and all alone, to a meeting of several dangerous, armed gangsters. Helena tells him Hawke's one of the bodies, although Reese won't recognize him, but she doesn't explain what she means by that; with all the carnage, it sounds like she's saying Hawke was so badly shot up that he's unidentifiable. Reese asks where he is, and Helena says he's behind the bar. I guess she somehow saw him dive behind the bar while she herself was taking cover, but failed to see him escaping, since he's not there anymore. "He's not here," says Hawke. "Dammit. He got away," says Helena, and I have to say these two have a firm grasp of the obvious. Reese makes some sort of noise that I guess we're supposed to think was relief, since Helena says, "That's a bad thing, right?" He says it is, and then says he's going to go call it in, which is hilarious since so many performances on this show are phoned in. He asks Helena to keep him posted.

Back at the Clocktower, Helena's going on about Reese's so-called "sigh of relief," and Barbara says Reese probably just wants to take Hawke alive, and he feels bad because Hawke escaped on his watch. Helena insists that it's more than that. Meanwhile, she's describing what Hawke looks like now as Barbara draws up a composite picture on the computer. It beats me why Helena didn't just use her gadget thing that she uses to take pictures and film video. It would sure beat the fake-o program Barbara's using. They've basically scanned a picture of Mitch Pileggi into Photoshop and used the paint bucket tool to give him hair, which Barbara then makes disappear and Helena's all "that's him!" More computer wizardry from Birds of Prey.
