Fearless is back at his desk, reading through some file. Gedrick walks over to Wahlberg and says he knows that things haven't been square with them, but that he just heard about Trumper, and wants to offer his help if Wahlberg ever needs anything. Wahlberg thanks him. Gedrick asks Wahlberg what's in the missing coroner's report. Wahlberg says it's the second autopsy report on his baby. Gedrick asks what's in it. Wahlberg says he doesn't know, because he's never read it. He always calls the baby "my baby," as if he or she didn't have a name. Gedrick offers again to help. He walks away. Wahlberg and Fearless stare at each other.
Trumper. Trumper sits in his car at a pretty downtown view. Another car pulls up. We watch a pair of sneakers approach Trumper's car. The door opens. It's Gedrick. He sits in the car and hands Trumper a tape. Trumper asks, "Did you get him?" Gedrick answers, "Yeah. I did. It's definitely [Wahlberg]." Gedrick bites his lip and gives Trumper a good looking-at as we fade to commercial.
Tom. Two Days Earlier. Tom is at a diner. He answers his cell phone and puts the earpiece in his ear and asks this series of questions: "Hello? Yeah? What do you want, Trumper? Why? Okay, how 'bout I talk to my union rep and I'll get back to you? Okay, and what is it?"
Cut to downtown mall plaza place thing. Trumper and Gedrick meet out in the open. Gedrick says this is his day off, so if Trumper has something important to say, he should say it now. Trumper says that IA has been watching Gedrick lately. Gedrick freaks out, saying that Trumper promised this wasn't about him. Trumper says that it's not -- that they're looking at Gedrick for a detective position, if he just helps IA out with an investigation. Gedrick says there's a reason most cops don't consider IA. "Yeah, yeah," Trumper says. "Makes you a rat, right? According to your brothers and sisters." Gedrick asks why him and why now. Trumper says that after Manzani and the deaths of three cops, his station's under close scrutiny. They did a "computer search" of reports over the past three years looking for names and mistakes. A few popped up, all minor, except for an interesting one: Wahlberg's case. "So, this is why me," Gedrick says.
Flashback to the episode where Wahlberg interrogated Gedrick as Trumper watched. Gedrick tells Wahlberg he knows that Wahlberg has an opinion of him.
Trumper admits that Gedrick's dislike of Wahlberg helps in this case. Gedrick asks what happens if he says no. Trumper says he'll ask someone else, but the next time he sees Gedrick, it won't be to discuss a promotion.
